The Project

Welcome to the wiki I've created for The Project. Since you might be wondering just what is this project that is so important it doesn't even need a name, let me fill you in on some of the (early) details. It's a just-getting-started movement towards transforming schools into the social and culturally relevant learning environments we know that they need to be for learning to take place.

The goal of this wiki is to gather up ideas that will be then implemented in the construction of a web-based support system for teachers to convene, collaborate, and discuss issues facing teachers and our students, share resources to implement social and culturally relevant lessons that take all learners into consideration, and create methods to implement change from inside our schools.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Why did I link you to this wiki?

Well, I am asking you to contribute any thoughts, ideas, or links that you might have or want to add to this movement. We are just getting started so this is like a mini start-up of our Start-Up. Please pass this wiki along to anyone who you think might be interested. I'll post updates on it until I figure out if there is a better way to do this to keep everyone informed (e.g. a blog, The Project website). I'm fairly certain that I've made it so that anyone can not only view it but edit it as well, so please... edit away!

2. How do YOU contribute?

It's so simple. Go to http://edutheory2practice.pbworks.com and click on Edit. You either have to create an account (just an email required!) or log in if you are already have a pb works account. Then you may edit this page, edit other pages, insert links, etc. It's up to you!

**Check out The Plan (see right side of this page, under the navigator or click here: The Plan)

3. Where should you add your thoughts?

To be honest I am just learning how this whole wiki thing works. So far, here are your choices:

1. Add a comment to this page

2. Edit this page

3. Edit/add to the QUESTIONS page (see Navigator (look to your right); click on Questions; a page will open. Click on Edit and add what you'd like by either answering questions, adding questions, or commenting). Or click on this link: QUESTIONS and it will take you to the right spot.

4. Create a page (click pages & files tab (upper left of this page); then click new and follow the directions)

5. Just play around (Add something somewhere and see how long it takes me to find it:)

Thanks very much!

This is great! Can I let the other folks outside of class know this is here? I've heard from about 15 people, three of whom have classes of students who are interested.

Yes, of course! And please make sure they know that they can add whatever information to this wiki as they want (i.e. change anything!).

You don't have permission to comment on this page.
